Heartwood Farm
A small, family farm
Est. 2015

About Us
We are a small, family farm located in rural Newberg, Oregon. The property is one of the original settlements in this area and features beautiful, century-old walnut trees.
Our yearly walnut harvest has been an unanticipated blessing from this property. The walnuts produced by our heritage trees are so tasty and good for you. Thanks to our free-range chickens keeping the pests down, we don't need to use any chemicals.
We raise and milk a small herd dairy goats for personal use, have seasonal small-crop harvests, a little pumpkin patch, and create handcrafted artisanal goods. We've also recently added a funky little flock of sheep & alpacas to our family.
The "heartwood" is the hard, rich, darker-colored wood that becomes the spine of a tree. Heartwood is desirable in woodworking because of its color and durability. Since we have these incredible century-old English Walnut trees with Black Walnut rootstock, we get to harvest an absolutely delicious walnut crop every year as well as recover gorgeous slabs of colorful Black and English Walnut hardwood which we dry along with Maple, Cherry, and other woods found on the property. We then handcraft into artistic pieces for our home and yours.
We are on a permaculture journey, as we try to preserve the land while making it a place to gather and share the riches that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. We don't use pesticides or harsh chemicals for any of our crops. Our chickens are free-range to keep them healthy, and happy, and to help control pests. Our goats, alpacas, and sheep forage on pasture and forest, and get supplemental local grass & alfalfa hay.

Farm Stand
&
Seasonal Produce
As available, we offer delicious walnuts, plums, grapes, squash, and whatever small bounty we've grown, cultivated, and harvested. These small harvests are offered at our little farmstand and/or local farmer's markets.
Our u-pick pumpkin patch is growing every year. Come see us next year!
