Hand-dyed, botanically, Lincoln Longwool locks 
 
Lincoln sheep wool is a long, lustrous, heavy, and coarse fiber.  Staple lengths typically vary from about 7"- 15" with thickness ranging from approximately 35 to 45 microns.  Lincoln longwool takes dye beautifully and is often used for fiber arts including weaving, doll hair, rugs, and spinning. 
 
I hand-dye in small batches, using natural, mostly botanical, dye materials.  All dyes are mordanted with alum for colorfastness. Keep in mind, even with mordant, natural dyes should be handled and washed with special care to avoid losing their beautiful color. 
 
These locks are from our Lincoln ewe, named Lincoln.  Our first round of fiber is 6 month's worth of growth as she needed a shear before our summer heat waves.  We're looking forward to longer staples in the future :)

🛠HOW IT’S MADE🛠

Our fibers come from our small flock of happy, healthy, pastured sheep & alpacas, as well as from a couple of neighboring small farms whom we have visited and can assure care for their herds well.  All of our fibers are processed carefully, by hand.

🧡PRODUCT CARE🧡
Store in a dry place. Handwash only.  Agitation will cause felting.  Comb, flick, card, felt, spin from the lock, or however you prefer.  Wool moths can be prevented by freezing wool, or by using cedar, lavender, orange, and other scented blocks, satchels, etc in the storage area.  Do not apply scented oils directly to the wool to avoid staining. 
 
For naturally dyed fiber, hand wash only in cold water. Spot treat with soap only as needed.  Air dry out of direct sunlight.  Avoid sunlight and washing as much as possible.
